What is Taiko Drumming?
Taiko drumming is a Japanese art form of playing traditional drums with powerful, rhythmic performances that incorporate dance, martial arts, and whole-body exercise. Dating back to the 5th century in Japan, the tradition began with uses in religious ceremonies and battlefields, but evolved into a popular musical ensemble art called Kumi-daiko in the 20th century, making it a captivating, earth-shaking cultural expression.
